The first Saturday night of November comes alive with apparitions and history of Colorado County! The NMLF proudly sponsors archival yet whimsical night time lantern tours of the Old City Cemetery or the Old Fellows Rest Cemetery here in Columbus. Each year, a different set of “departed” characters are featured …or brought back for the evening to tell their colorful and often tragic stories. Guided tours set out at approximately 6:00 p.m (dusk) and takes the group along winding stops at various grave sites to hear first-hand from the “dearly-departed” themselves! These costumed and animated performers will tell you about their remarkable lives and history of Old Columbus. The Live Oaks and Dead Folks Cemetery Tour has become the city’s most popular event with new and different material, characters, and stories each year. Tours last about an hour and a half. Attendees are encouraged to bring a flashlight.
Tickets can be purchased at the Nesbitt Memorial Library and also at the Columbus Chamber of Commerce
